iHow it is calculated
The discharge date is the induction date plus the service length, plus any extension days and minus any early-discharge days. The time to that moment is then updated every second. Used leave does not push the discharge date back; it is shown for information only:
discharge date = induction + service length + extension − early discharge
For someone inducted on 1 March 2026 serving 6 months, discharge is 1 September 2026; the counter shows the days, hours, minutes and seconds left, updating live.

?Frequently asked questions
How does the discharge countdown work?
You enter the induction (start) date and your service length; the calculator finds the discharge date and shows how many days, hours, minutes and seconds remain, updating every second.
What service lengths can I choose?
Presets cover a short/reduced term (21 days), a standard conscript term (6 months) and a long/reserve-officer term (12 months). For anything else, pick “Custom” and enter the length in months.
Does used leave change the discharge date?
No. Leave already taken does not extend the discharge date here; the calculator shows it for information only. The discharge date is based on induction date plus service length.
How do I add extension or early-discharge days?
Enter any extension/penalty days in the “Extension” field — they push the discharge date later. Enter early-discharge days in the “Early discharge” field — they bring it forward.
What weekday does the discharge date fall on?
The calculator also shows the weekday of the discharge date, so you know whether it lands on a working day or the weekend.
Does the countdown stop if I close the page?
The calculation runs in your browser and restarts each time you open the page, always relative to the current moment — no data is saved, no account needed.
What happens once the discharge date has passed?
If the discharge date is in the past, the counter shows “discharged” and the time elapsed since that day.
Is the estimate exact?
Service lengths are set by law and can change, so treat the discharge date as an estimate and confirm the current term with an official source.
