iHow it is calculated
Each KS2 SATs test is reported as a scaled score from 80 to 120, where 100 is the expected standard. This tool averages your child's scores across the tests:
average = (Reading + Maths + GPS) ÷ 3
For scaled scores 103, 101, 105: (103 + 101 + 105) ÷ 3 = 103.0 — all at or above 100, so the expected standard is met.

?Frequently asked questions
What is a KS2 SATs scaled score?
Raw test marks are converted to a scaled score from 80 to 120. A scaled score of 100 means the child met the expected standard for the end of Key Stage 2.
Which KS2 SATs are taken?
English Reading, Maths, and Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling (GPS) are externally marked and given scaled scores. Writing is teacher-assessed and not scaled.
What score is a pass?
There is no formal pass, but a scaled score of 100 or more indicates the child met the expected standard; 110+ often indicates working at greater depth (higher standard).
Do the scaled score boundaries change?
Yes. The raw-mark-to-scaled-score conversion is set each year by the Standards and Testing Agency, so the same scaled score can need different raw marks year to year.
Is the average an official measure?
No. Schools report each subject's scaled score separately. Averaging them is just a quick overall indicator.
