calcula·live is a free online calculator site — no account, no install. This page explains exactly how we arrive at the numbers we show: which formulas we use, which official sources the figures come from, when we check them again, and what we do when we get it wrong.
01What calcula·live is
209 calculators across 14 categories — salary, tax, loans, property, health, maths, time, motoring, education, legal and more. Everything runs in your browser: no account, no download, no subscription.
02One language, one market
The site exists in three languages, and each serves a single market: English for the United Kingdom, Romanian for Romania, Turkish for Türkiye. We do not translate a Romanian tax calculator into English — the English version computes under UK rules, with UK thresholds. That is why the same tool can give different answers in different languages: the law is different.
03How we calculate
Each calculator implements the formula as published by the relevant authority, not an approximation of it. Every tool page carries three things so you can check the result yourself: the method (what steps are taken), the formula written out, and a full worked example. If a result looks wrong, redo the example by hand — it should match exactly.
04Official sources
For anything with money or legal consequences — pay, National Insurance, income tax, loans, vehicle tax, statutory entitlements — the page names the official source the figure comes from (HMRC and GOV.UK, the Bank of England, the ONS) together with the date we last verified it. The source is a link, not just a name: open it and check us.
05When we update
We re-check figures whenever a change is announced and at the start of each tax year, when rates, thresholds and the National Living Wage move. The verification date appears on the page and in the sitemap we submit to search engines, and we never bump it just because we published: an older date means that is genuinely when the figure was last checked against its source.
06What calcula·live is not
It is not tax, legal, financial or medical advice. Results are indicative estimates based on the values you type in, and they cannot know your particular situation — allowances, non-standard contracts, or what your employer or lender actually decides. For decisions that matter, check the result with a professional or with the institution involved.
07Your figures stay in your browser
The calculators run entirely in your browser, in JavaScript. The amounts, salaries, dates of birth or health figures you enter never reach our servers — we cannot store them, because we never receive them. The full detail, including what our traffic analytics does collect, is in the privacy policy.
08Errors and corrections
Rules change, and we can be late or simply wrong. If you find an error, tell us through the contact form (pick the "I found an error" subject) or email [email protected] directly. We fix the calculation, update the verification date, and where the error changed results we note the correction on the page itself.
09How the site is funded
calcula·live is free and stays free. Costs are covered by advertising, shown only in clearly marked slots kept separate from the content. Ads do not influence our formulas, our sources or the order in which we recommend calculators — we have no paid partnerships with banks or insurers.
