iHow it is calculated
The number is split into groups of three digits (units, thousands, millions, billions) and each group is written in words with its scale name:
e.g. 1,234 → one thousand two hundred thirty-four
1,234 = “one thousand two hundred thirty-four”. In Amount mode, 1,250.50 = “one thousand two hundred fifty pounds and fifty pence”.
